A Boutique a Week: Secondi
This summer, DC Life Magazine explores lesser-known boutiques in the district. We’ll feature our favorite findings here, once a week.
If you have a knack for consigning clothes, chances are you’ve walked up the stairs to the second floor Secondi in Dupont Circle. If you’re not a consignment shopper, consider this is the place for you to start. Secondi, located on the intersection of R Street and Connecticut, above a Starbucks and a gelato shop, is a game changer. I have got to be honest- in the past, consignment shopping has not been my thing. I want so badly to be one of those girls who can walk into a Wise Penny and walk out with hip Doc Martens and a killer 90s flannel. But I’m not. I’m one of the girls that walks in, gets immediately overwhelmed and can’t seem to see past the oversized 1980s prom dresses. I assure you- my experience at Secondi was different. The items are second hand, but top of the line. The clothing, shoes and accessories sold at Secondi are all less than two years old and in the same condition as when they were first purchased. The exceptions, of course, are vintage items such as Chanel handbags and a beautiful, cream-colored Celine suit. The store is also organized; the racks are separated by casual, dressy and size. Easy peasy. Finally, Secondi sells for all occasions and prices ranges; work, parties and weekend wear with labels ranging from Gap and J. Crew to Vince and A.L.C. My last word about Secondi? They’re annual end of the summer sale starts in August. Go forth and shop!
