With innovative mascara brushes, exciting new designs, and colors that are embracing the latest trends, it’s tough to fight the urge to embrace beauty’s latest innovations in mascara.
Ok, confession time: My name is Sarah, and I am a mascara addict. I have to try every new mascara that comes out, regardless of brand, because this just might be the mascara to forever change my lashes and help them to finally achieve their voluminous, lengthening, clump-free, darkening potential. No pressure for a tube full of black liquid, right? Well, with each brand of mascara promising to provide what the next couldn’t, I can’t help but test each one with the hope that I will have finally found a favorite. With innovative brushes, exciting new designs (like Maybelline’s leopard print tube or Covergirl’s new orange tube with hot pink flames) and colors that are embracing the latest trends (blue lashes, anyone?), it’s tough to fight the urge to embrace beauty’s latest innovations in mascara. While I’ll admit, it is hard to find an all-in-one mascara that erases our need as both consumers and beauty enthusiasts to try each new one, here are a few of my go-to favorites, both from drugstores and department stores, that promise to satisfy your lash desires, at least until the next one comes out!
Covergirl Flamed Out: The hourglass-shaped brush helps to separate lashes and avoid clumping, while the thick brush promises to coat each one while helping lashes to reach their longest length. Not too shabby for an under $10 purchase.
L’oreal Voluminous: At just $10 per tube, this is possibly my favorite drug store mascara to date. While the liquid itself tends to be a little thick, your lashes have truly reached their maximum volume with this mascara. Not only are they thickly coated in dark black mascara so they stand out, but you feel as if each lash has really been touched by the brush. Just make sure to have some Q-tips handy to help remove some clumps.
Dior Show: A favorite by make-up artists, celebrities, and those with $30 budget per tube of mascara, Dior Show provides lashes with an unbeatable brush that promises consistent length and volume with each application. With the option for waterproof or regular, straight or curved brush, it’s no wonder this product never loses popularity. While the formula tends to dry a little quicker than others, if you’re looking for a consistent, everyday mascara, Dior Show is a great option.
Sephora Full Action Extreme Effect Mascara: This mascara promises that it’s the first “7-in-one” mascara. The brush lengthens, separates and volumizes lashes all at once, while also nourishing and protecting lashes. This mascara also provides fun color options, like blue and purple, for those who want to have a little fun with their makeup. At $15 per tube, this is a great compromise between high end and drugstore brands.
