The nightclub experience in Washington, DC has always been an experience that involves a blend of cultures, and that requires a special kind of DJ. Capital city nightlife offers much diversity, it is one of the most exciting aspects of club-hopping in the DMV.  The vast array of cultural, ethnic and economic backgrounds you can party with comes in endless combinations. The quintessential DJ of the DC Metro area has to be both talented and respected, while displaying an eclectic taste in music genres. DJ Blustar of “NO.B.S.” fits the archetype perfectly. He has been celebrated in the music community for his dedication by the illustrious CoalitionDJs brand. His stamp of approval seems to proceed many of the DMV’s most successful productions, and that legitimizes his role as a local music mogul.

I had a chance to chat with Blustar and get some answers from him about where his sights are set, and what projects he has available currently. This is what he had to say:

Who are you, and what is your brand about?

 

DJ Blustar:

My name is DJ Blustar I’m a DJ in the DMV area  1/3 of No B.S. a DJ crew as well as a member of the Coalition DJs . I have my own company entitled Loud Neighbors in which I try to bring the ultimate party experience to any event.

DCL:How is your DJ style different/unique (Song-Selection / Mixtapes / Business Connects / Scratching & Blends ETC.)?

DJ Blustar:

My DJ style consists of a lot of wordplay during transitions, wide range of song selection, utilization of looping technique that brings energy to crowds, as well as a few scratching techniques applied.

Are you planning on working with signed or independent artists (or Both)?

DJ Blustar:

I currently am a DJ for a signed artist by the name of 3ohblack as well as being Multiple independent artists DJ as well (Kolten Perine, Projex, Johnny Rocket, Young SHO, Journii Love, Amala)

DCL:

What are your networking objectives, how are you building your network as a brand or business entity?

DJ Blustar:

I have lived in 3 different markets (Texas, West Virginia, DMV). Currently I mainly use Instagram as my prime way of building my brand as well as connecting during events.

DCL:

Do you have any upcoming projects, deals, or moves, and what are they?

DJ Blustar:

Just did a podcast for Voices Of The Black Community. Just released a mixtape entitled, “Atlanta in the DMV”. Other than that, I DJ on Instagram live.

What would be your ideal project as a “Playlist Curator” or “Production Music Supervisor”?

DJ Blustar:

A project that brings smaller artist to the big leagues while maintaining the respect for the sound of the music culture.

DCL:

What goals are you committed to accomplish in 2020?

DJ Blustar:

Organizing my crates to give my crowd a true experience through music. Progress in the technique of scratching.

Where do you draw your inspiration?

Name a favorite place in Washington, DC and why?

DJ Blustar:

Peace lounge. This is a club I dj at that just fills me with energy from the crowd to promoters to staff.

 

DCL:

What’s something you’d like to share about DC that not many people know?

DJ Blustar:

Me already not being from here I’m going to have to say Go Go music.

 

DCL:

Name a big dream you’d like to see happen for your music career.

DJ Blustar:

I want to travel and be a tour DJ as well as be the headliner myself where people come in mass groups just to hear the music I provide.
