What a Day

Sunday, November 12th, Katt Williams and Red Grant hosted a star-studded brunch and day party that did not disappoint. If you missed out, don’t worry; I got you covered. This event had it all, great food, celebrities, great music, a 360 photo booth, networking, and positive vibes. You would’ve thought that we were all family the way we came together. 

Washington City Club

The event was held at the premier Washington City Club, located in Washington DC right next to the Warner Theatre. The private business and social club offers next-level networking, memberships, exclusive events, and food to die for. The brunch spread was amazing and had offerings for all tastes and palettes. This wasn’t my first time here, but I have never experienced Washington City Club, or a brunch quite like this before.

Following Katt’s Dark Matter Comedy Tour that took place at the DAR Constitution Hall on Friday and Saturday nights, Katt invited DC’s finest to partake in an amazing brunch celebration for his good friend Rodney Red Grant. They couldn’t have chosen a better venue, in my opinion. The food was on point, the drinks were flowing, and the guests were top-tier. 

Rodney Red Grant

Red Grant is a father, husband, comedian, philanthropist, businessman, and former DC mayoral candidate. And that’s not all. From Hollywood to Politics: Grant is currently running as a Democratic candidate for Council Member at Large for DC 2024. His passion for the city where he was born and raised surpasses any politician I have seen since Mayor Marion Barry. Rodney has a deep understanding of what his city needs and is lacking and places an emphasis on “One Community” where all residents are valued and protected. 

Grant has already done so much for his community with his philanthropic endeavors and has created platforms for the youth of DC to overcome hardships, learn valuable skills, and have a safe place to spend their time. His non-profits “Don’t Shoot Guns Shoot Cameras”, and “Beyond Your Block” have gained national recognition and have helped so many of our city youth.

Celebrity Guests

With all that Red is doing for his community, there’s no wonder why so many celebrities came out to support and celebrate him. This Sunday Brunch Day Party was super lit, and the invitees were some of DC’s elite. Pretty Ricki, Lil’ Mo, Mark Curry, and Zooman, from Katt Williams’ Dark Matter Comedy Tour, graced us with their presence. We also got to party with reality stars from Love & Marriage DC and Real Housewives. We even had a surprise appearance from TI and Tiny, who lit up the red carpet with their presence.

I reconnected with old friends Joi Carter, Demont Pinder, and Girard Street Garvey, all of whom are doing great things. I was also able to meet some really amazing people: Grindstone, Illy Cartier, Angel Rich, and Teranee Fransha. DJ One-Ski was on the ones and twos and had everyone dancing. Pretty Ricki killed it on the dance floor and had all eyes on her with her amazing energy. We even had a soul train line at one point, which I didn’t get footage of because I too participated lol.

Multiple media outlets came out to cover this event and conduct interviews. None of this would have been possible without April Taylor of the SVE Firm and Thomasina Perkins of Capitol Public Relations. They really did a great job in executing this party and I must say that it was a major success. 

I’m sure there will be many more events to come, especially since Rodney is running in a political campaign. Make sure you make it out to have fun, support, and show some love. If the energy and vibe is always like this, count me in every time.
