Summer Necessities for the District

Sunscreen

It’s been said time and time again that we need to protect our skin, and it keeps your skin healthy! Grab a  tube of sunscreen with at least SPF 15, and get it on your face! It’ll keep you looking younger and keep your skin protected! Even if you think you aren’t going to be in the sun for that long, better safe than sorry!

Water

Always have a bottle of water with you when out and about in the city! Even if you aren’t thirsty, your body needs hydration. If you pair a bottle of water with the sunscreen (see above) you will keep your skin healthy. Some studies are showing that drinking more water and getting plenty of sleep is better than any beauty product that you can buy off the shelves. Never forget to have water with you!

Metro Card

Taking a car into the city can be frustrating and not to mention expensive. Luckily, DC has a nice metro system that functions fairly well. DC has now forgone the paper metro cards, and you can hold on to your Metro Card until they decide to upgrade the system! Although the Metro will be undergoing construction throughout the summer, as long as you keep up to date with the construction and are sure that you have a plan, you should be good to go! Always have that Metro card and you can re-charge it in any station before you get on!

A Portable Charger

Never have your phone die when you are walking around the city again! Invest in a small portable phone charger that you can place in your purse and have with you at all times. When you get disoriented, need to find the best restaurant in the vicinity, find out what time the museum closes, or where the construction on the Metro is, these portable chargers will ensure that you will always have a charged phone!

Sunglasses

Having sunglasses with you is a must in the District. The summer, these ASOS sunglasses are a popular pick, at $7.00 from their website. The retro look is making a comeback this season on the runway, and we are expecting to see that trend continue in the coming months as the fall and winter collections debut.
