Created by Hassan Pierre and curated by Amanda Hearst, Maison De Mode is a traveling luxury pop-up shop featuring ethical fashion finds from top designers. Unique and innovative ready-to-wear, fine jewelry and accessories are just some the pieces you may expect to discover. Ready-to-wear brands include Osklen, Way It Should Be, Chinti + Parker, and Laveer. Accessories brands include Edie Parker, Maiyet, Freedom Of Animals, and Natalie Frigo.
It comes to no surprise that the selections for this event are star quality and ethically made. Amanda Hearst is an avid fan of ethical fashion and is also special projects editor of Town & Country magazine and Marie Claire’s associate market editor. When asked about how selections were made for this event, Amanda told us that "with every pop up, I try and consider the location and what the clients in that place want. So with D.C., I thought of a modern working woman, and so I chose clothing that was interesting but still wearable."
Of course, every person has their favorites. And of course, we asked which emerging ethical and sustainable fashion brands she currently loves. "I've been a huge fan of Maiyet for a while. I also love Freedom from Animals - vegan handbags as well as Natalie Frigo, and Anndra Neen hand-made creations," Hearst told us. DC Life also had a chance to speak to Hassan Pierre, founder and creator of Maison De Mode, about his vision for the company. Here's what he to say.
"We are hosting our fifth pop-up shop now and have been in cities such as NYC, Las Vegas, Miami and now Washington, D.C. People love our concept and the brands we carry, which are uber luxurious and unique. We have such a high demand for our curated shop that we are planning a digital boutique (maisondemode.net) which will launch at the end of the year. We also have plans for LA as well as Hong Kong & Dubai in 2015, which will be our first international pop-ups."We also asked about what's next after the pop-up shop closes this weekend. Pierre is also creative director of Way It Should Be the leading women's ready-to-wear brand using only the finest organic and sustainable materials. "We will go back to focusing on the launch of our e-commerce website which will allow shoppers around the globe to access our curated boutique anytime and anywhere. We will be back in Miami for our third year during Art Basel Miami beach at the end of the year and are already prepping for three new pop-ups in 2015 & beyond!" says Pierre. The event will take place in the hotel’s Presidential Suite from May 1st to May 4th, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily.
